What the residency includes.

A working chair in a serious room, plus the support to actually make the trip pencil out.

Length
Two weeks · flexible scheduling
Stays run Monday to Sunday across two consecutive weeks. We block your dates on our calendar and give the booking form a "Visiting" tag so the right clients find you.
Studio
A chair in our private east-side room
One of four chairs in a quiet, appointment-only studio. Shared lounge, sterilization area, and consultation table. You get key access for the duration of your stay.
Boarding — select artists
A bedroom, walking distance from the studio
For a small number of residencies each year, boarding is included — a private bedroom in our partner apartment, ten minutes from the studio on foot. We offer this to artists whose work meaningfully extends what we already do here, and who are traveling from outside the tri-state area.
Bookings
We promote your dates to our list
Two weeks ahead of your stay, your slots go up on our portfolio feed and the booking form. Our residents share their flash and hand-picked clients to the right matches. You keep 80% of session revenue; the studio keeps 20% to cover supplies, room, and front-of-house.
What you bring
Your machines, your kit, your style
We supply the chair, lighting, sharps disposal, stencil printer, sterilization, and a full hospitality stock (tattoo balm, gloves, paper, ink caps, soap, paper towel). You bring your machines, needles, ink, and any specialty equipment your work calls for.
Who we look for
Independent artists with a clear voice
We pick artists working at a level that pushes our residents — fine line, blackwork, illustrative, traditional, hand-poke, ornamental, or something we haven't seen yet. Two to ten years of professional experience, a portfolio that reads, and references from a previous shop.
Licensing
NYC body art permit required
Visiting artists must hold a current NYC Department of Health body art practitioner permit. We'll guide you through the application; it takes about three weeks and we recommend starting before you book a stay.
Timeline
Apply 8 – 12 weeks ahead
Most residencies are scheduled a couple of months out so we can promote your stay, clear permit timing, and (if applicable) coordinate boarding. Last-minute slots open up occasionally — call us if you're trying to come through soon.
